Skygate Technology
fade bar Case study 3
The client:
There were effectively two clients with this project. One was a US software vendor that had a server-based Internet filtering product that ran on Microsoftࡊ Windows. The product was designed to prevent employees from being able to look at offensive or illegal web sites. The other was the vendor's client, an international pharmaceuticals company.

Project requirement:
The pharmaceutical company wanted Internet filtering for their employees (of which there were thousands world-wide). However, they had no Windows servers, only UNIX (specifically, Solaris). The project remit was to,
  • Port the Windows software to Solaris,
  • Thoroughly test it,
  • Install it for the client, and
  • Provide ongoing support.
Fortunately, we were able to work directly with the pharmaceuticals company on this project rather than everything being channelled through the vendor. This helped to speed up the development time and ensured that the UNIX build worked in their particular environment.
